| These tanks are the first every 40,000 gallon Fireguards to be fabricated by any licensed manufacturer. The tanks are approximately 12'-0" in diameter and 52'-1" long. The overall height increases to 13'-2" with 8" high integral support saddles under the tanks and flanged fittings on top. Fireguard tanks all have a 3" or 6" annular space between the two steel tank walls depending on the volume. A lightweight concrete mixture is injected into this space providing a thermal barrier for protecting the stored product. Weight limitations necessitate injecting the fill material on site.
Highland`s Manheim, PA facility fabricated and tested the inner tanks. Our Stoystown, PA plant completed the tanks with the second wrap and finish paint system. Even before tank number ten arrives in Texas, a crew from Stoystown will begin the filling process which is expected to take a day for each tank.
Fabrication options for the 40,000 Fireguards include 24" diameter manways, stainless steel internal ladders, 30" wide catwalks with non-skid fiberglass grating, and external ladders. The tanks also include Flame Arrestors and Overfill Protection Valves as well as primary and secondary tank Emergency Vents.
